The Crow and The Wolf
ART + SCIENCE + ACTION = Social Sustainability
The Crow and The Wolf is an artist duo dedicated to furthering human sustainability by reconnecting society with it’s primal form of communication, art-making. They are committed to the evolution of their own medium, transforming it into one that combines installation art, expressive therapy, civic involvement, and anthropology. Their passion for social reform coupled with their belief that art is a powerful tool for communicating and maintaining mental health, inspired them to launch The Crow and The Wolf Project.
The project is an experimental installation and research project. It combines expressive therapy techniques and multi-sensory art within an interactive installation, designed specifically for each community in which it is lead.
They are currently working on their mixed-media documentary that will explore what is really happening in communities where federal and state budget cuts have eliminated arts education from their curriculum. In conjunct with the documentary they will conduct experimental installation projects in order to research how collaborative and expressive art can shift the mental well being of a community and induce national unification.
(Sustainability is the capacity to endure. In ecology the word describes how biological systems remain diverse and productive over time. For humans, it is the potential for long-term maintenance of well being, which in turn depends on the well being of the natural world and the responsible use of natural resources).
